FOSILORAMA and MINERALIS – the Pelagonian Massif

The exhibitions “FOSILORAMA” and “MINERALIS – the Pelagonian Massif” have opened at the Gallery of the Natural History Museum on Kalemegdan, produced with the Natural History Museum of the Republic of North Macedonia in Skopje. The display is part of that institution’s centenary.

The collaboration strengthens ties between kindred museums and jointly presents the rich geological and palaeontological heritage of the Balkans through an exchange of knowledge, experience, and collections.

MINERALIS – the Pelagonian Massif

The exhibition takes visitors through the geological past of one of North Macedonia’s most significant regions. Author Biljana Karamačoska presents the beauty, diversity, and scientific value of the mineral world through original specimens, locality photographs, geological maps, and educational material.

FOSILORAMA

The exhibition uniquely joins science and art. Author Biljana Garevska presents sculptural reconstructions of fossil animals made from original finds in museum collections, field photographs, and stories that bring ancient organisms back into view.

Visitors can see reconstructions of skulls of prehistoric giraffes, rhinoceroses, mastodons, hyenas, sabre-toothed cats, antelopes, and other members of the famous Pikermian fauna that inhabited the Balkans several million years ago.
